- Benedict Murray-Bruce OON (born 18 February 1956 at Yaba, Lagos) is a successful entrepreneu
- He attended Our Lady Primary School, Yaba, Lagos; St. Gregory’s College, Obalende, Lagos; Simpson College, Indianola Iowa (1975 – 1976); Iowa State University (1976 – 1977); and University of Southern California (1977 – 1979), where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration / Marketing.
- In 1980, he founded Silverbird Productions involved in concert promotion.
- In 1984, he became the Executive Director of Black Music Association of America with Quincy Jones, Dick Griffey, and Stevie Wonder on the Board.
- In 1997, Silverbird revolutionized Radio Broadcasting by establishing Rhythm FM and set up stations across the country (Lagos, Abuja, Rivers, Plateau, Benin and Bayelsa). Rhythm FM won the National Network Broadcast licence in 2009 as the second radio network licence operator in Nigeria.
- From 1999 to 2003, he was the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
- In 2004, Silverbird Television was established as Nigeria’s first Family Entertainment Television Channel, and won the National Network Broadcast license in 2009 as the second television network license operator in Nigeria. It operates in six states of the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (“NBC”) Zones – Lagos, Abuja, Rivers, Plateau, Edo, Bayelsa, including the Federal Capital Territory.
- In 2004, he founded the Silverbird Cinemas Limited and built the first ever 5 Screen Cineplex at the Silverbird Galleria, Lagos Nigeria. Silverbird Cinemas now has about 65 screens and over 9,820 seating capacity in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Uyo, Yenagoa, Accra Ghana and Monrovia, Liberia, and is one of the top 5 cinemas in Africa.
- The Silverbird Man of The Year, Nigeria’s most credible and prestigious awards, was conceptualized and realized by Ben Murray-Bruce in 2005.
- In 2007, he founded Silverbird Film Distribution (W.A) Limited, an independent film distributor of theatrical and non-theatrical films, and sole distributor for United International Pictures in West Africa.
- In 2010, he established the Dream Magic Studios (two studios with state-of-the-art equipment, located in the heart of Los Angeles, California, USA).
- From 2013 to 2015, he was the Chairman of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria.
- In February 17, 2020 Silverbird’s 24-hour News Station ‘News 24’ became the latest member of the Silverbird family.
- He is a motivational speaker and has spoken at a number of national and international event, including the prestigious Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Nigerian American Business Forum in Tampa, Florida, and American University of Nigeria, amongst others.
- He is the author of the “Common Sense” series, an educative program that proffers solutions to Nigeria’s economic, social and political problems.
- He was the Co-Chairperson of AFREXIMBANK’s Creative Africa Advisory Group ($1bn Creative Africa Facility) from 2021 to 2023.
- Recipient of the CNN “Most Influential 100 CREATIVES Worldwide 2021” Award.
- He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre
- He is currently a Member of the Board of National Arts Theatre, Nigerian Film Corporation, Federal Films Censors Board, National Film Distribution Company and Nigerian Anti- Piracy Action Committee
